Our Learning in Year 3

✨ Term 1 – Food for Thought

This term, we’ll be thinking about where our food comes from and how it reaches our tables. Children will explore fair trade, visit a supermarket, and even make their own sandwiches! Along the way, they’ll learn about healthy choices, how to be responsible eaters, and why food matters to communities around the world. Our memorable experience will be a Masterchef style day of sandwich creation!

🏺 Term 2 – Tomb Raider!

Grab your explorer hats! Year 3 will step back in time to Ancient Egypt, uncovering pyramids, pharaohs, and fascinating gods. From hieroglyphics to daily life on the River Nile, children will discover just how amazing this ancient civilisation was. Our Egyptian Day will bring history to life with costumes, artefacts, and a little bit of mystery!

πŸŒ‹ Term 3 – Shake, Rattle and Roll

This exciting topic is all about volcanoes and earthquakes! Children will explore how the earth shakes, rumbles, and changes, learning about dramatic natural disasters like Pompeii. Through stories, science, and geography, they’ll discover the powerful forces beneath our feet β€” and what makes our planet so restless!

πŸͺ¨ Term 4 – We Will Rock You!

Get ready to travel back to the Stone Age! From cave paintings to tools, Year 3 will discover how humans lived long ago and how life changed from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. Rock investigations, stories, and even a visit to the Natural History Museum will help children see how our ancestors shaped the world we live in today.

πŸš‚ Term 5 – Planes, Trains and Automobile

This term is all about movement and travel! Children will explore the history of railways, compare transport across time, and think about how journeys connect people and places. This will be a term full of adventure, imagination, and discovery.

πŸ›οΈ Term 6 – I Came, I Saw, I Conquered

The Romans are marching into Year 3! Children will learn how the Roman Empire changed Britain, from roads and baths to gladiators and emperors. A Roman Workshop will bring history to life, and the stories of Boudicca and Roman soldiers will inspire children to think about courage, respect, and how the past still shapes our world today.
